I picked up my Malibu LT1. I like this car a lot, it has more features and drives better then my outgoing Acura TSX. I know how to install it, run power the whole 9 years. I use to be a car audio installer while in college, but that was 13 years ago. So, I know how to do it but some of the technology has changed. My question is can I use the auxiliary AGM battery located in the trunk? It would save me some time to use the aux battery rather then run power from the front main battery. I saw this on a GM press release:

I found enough to get by, but I also didn’t find any photo’s so I decided to try a quick write up. The first thing that I did, was remove the piece of carpeted cardboard at the bottom of the console. I used a small dental pick to get around the side of it and just lifted straight up. With that out of the way, the 2 bolts that hold everything in are exposed.
For the life of me, I can’t remember what size they were, but any metric socket set will probably have it 10 mm maybe? After removing those two bolts and putting them aside, I removed the shifter knob, and the front cupholders. These came out very easy, simply grab from the rear, and pull up, be careful not to pull to hard and break something, but mine simply popped right out with minimal effort.
With the cup holder out of the way, you can now reach your fingers under the plastic trim that surrounds the shifter and push up from the front. This too is held in with plastic clips, so be carefully not to pry or pull too hard as they appear they will break very easily. Now that the shifter trim is removed, you can access the 2 screws that hold the console to the shifter. These were just 2 phillips head screws, but they were in very tight, be extra careful with these as they just screw into plastic.
I’ve broken enough plastic in the past to know when something is too tight.

View My Garage jtrosky Wanted to give an update on this Kicker amp So I exchanged the amp and the replacement was exactly the same. However, after having the amp installed and using for a few weeks, I’ve come to the conclusion that while it does have a higher “noise floor” than the Alpine KTP U, it turned out to be a non-issue in real lfe.
You can only hear the “noise floor” noise if you’re looking for it – and only if the car is not running and you are in a really quite place like a garage with no other noise which was the case when I initially connected the amp. But again, the noise floor really turned out to be a non-issue in real-world usage.
Everything you need to hook it up right. From amplifier wiring kits to subwoofer grilles and sound damping material, we have the products you need to get the most of of your audio gear.

But, since you have the problem of all the speakers being on a amp anyway But now I’m also thinking, unless those rears are crossed over, you still can use a line out converter on them.
The key to not smoking the converter is to keep the gains on it set to no more than half.
